Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting…

A really cool and RARE Vintage Guitar. A 1966 Vox Spitfire in hard to find White, with the original Hard Shell Case.

These cool guitars were only made in 1966 and 1967 so its one of those years. Its all original except the Pickguard…the original was hopelessly broken…happy to see quality replacements are now available. This great repro pickguard looks just like the original including the Spitfire Logo..See pics. It is an awesome guitar. Most of these have been parted out or are all broken up. This one is nicely preserved and the finish still looks great. These guitars were made by EKO in Italy…Very good quality.. No body cracks, only finish cracks and crazing. One bang with finish missing on side. See pic 10..

The neck feels great. Awesome low action for fast easy playing and fretting. We had Jeff the Tech set this one up with great action… The original frets still have lots of life left in them. The Pickups sound strong and very unique. Very mid-rangey with some British Twang!

Heres some info I found on the web regarding these cool guitars.

In the mid 1960s, Vox announced the introduction of many Solid Body Guitars.

The Vox Spitfire guitar was first offered to the US market in the 1966 "Vox, It's Whats Happening - Beatles Cover" catalog. It was also offered in the 1967 "Vox, It's Whats Happening - Raiders Cover" catalog. Numerous other british bands used VOX equipment - including the Rolling Stones.  VOX, being an English music equipment company, gifted many special guitars to the Bealtes, the Rolling Stones, and Queen.  Own a piece of British music history - play VOX on stage or keep it on a stand in your man cave  either way you will enjoy this instrument, it's styling, it's heritage, and it's important English name brand !!!!

The Spitfire was very much like the popular Fender Stratocaster.

The 1966 US Vox catalog described the V235 Spitfire Guitar as follows: "Contoured Body, quick flick 3 position pickup switch, 3 pickups, rosewood fingerboard, true spring vibrato, adjustable master bridge channel, 6 individual string bridges, sunburst or popular colors, 2-way string damper.

The Spitfire guitar was produced for Vox by both Eko in Italy.

The 1966 price list indicated that the retail price of the Bobcat guitar was $249.90 USD. Adjusting the 1966 price for inflation, the Bobcat would retail today for about $2337 USD.

Be sure to check out the pics of the original case! All the latches and hinges work as they should. The original handle is still present and there are no funny odors inside. The interior still has very nice gold plush lining and the accessory box is still in it! Those are always missing! A great case for your really cool Vox Guitar!

This guitar is super cool but used and vintage so it will be sold as-is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 18 years now and all have loved the guitars I found them. This cool Vox will certainly not be an exception.

Thanks for checking out our cool vintage guitars!
